Hologic

Hologic Costa Rica is building an 18,000 m˛ ( 194,000 sf) manufacturing plant in the Coyol Alajuela Industrial Zone. Due to the impressive track record of its existing Costa Rican operation, three or four production lines of medical and surgical equipment currently being produced elsewhere will be transferred to Costa Rica starting by the end of 2008.

It is expected that in three years Hologic Costa Rica will employ over 750 in its new Coyol Free Zone plant. High local work ethics were considered critical in selecting the country to expand the production of high quality medical implements for women.

Continental

The new site in Coyol Free Zone will have production and office space covering more than 16,000 m˛ ( 172,000 sf) and 350 employees, manufacturing control units for engines and transmission systems for passenger cars produced in the NAFTA region. By 2011 the company plans to expand the workforce to 550 and to increase the size of the plant. A critical factor for choosing Costa Rica as the location for the new plant is the high standard of education among the local population. The company is confident it will find skilled production line staff as well as highly-trained process and quality engineers.

Beam One

BeamOne LLC has agreed to build a state-of-the-art electron beam sterilization facility in Costa Rica to serve that country's medical device and pharmaceutical industries. It is anticipated that the new Service Center will be on line in early 2008 and will join BeamOne's existing network of facilities in California, Colorado, and Ohio in the U.S.

Beam One's facilities in Coyol Free Zone Park will combine pleasing aesthetics with the technological requirements needed for business efficiency. Upon completion, it will encompass 268 acres of land including 25 acres of greenbelt and protected areas.

"We are impressed with the successful growth and commitment of the medical device industry in Costa Rica, and the benefits of in-country sterilization services will be a substantial aid to continued growth. Manufacturers will now be able to deliver goods directly to the European and Asian markets without the cost and time required to ship to the U.S. for sterilization," ,states Ray Calhoun, President and CEO of BeamOne.
